One of Japan's summer customs is 'Obon'!
"Obon" is a custom of welcoming the ancestors of a household into their home.
This custom is seen throughout Japan around mid-August (in some areas like Tokyo, it is in mid-July).
Since ancient times, during this season, people use cucumbers and eggplants at the entrance to decorate their homes with horse or cow ornaments! This is a message that says, "May our ancestors return home quickly on horseback! And so that we may return slowly on an ox!" It will be a decoration filled with that wish!
During Obon, Japan is essentially a vacation season abroad, with travel and returning home for outings!
Various events are held in various places, and it's also a time when summer festivals are frequent!
